Student Organic Farm

The mission of the Student Organic Farm is to cultivate knowledge and human capacity in organic and sustainable agriculture for students, farmers and educators. This 15-acre year-round vegetable farm provides a living laboratory and learning community for experiential education for RISE students and those seeking the minor in Environmental & Sustainability Studies (ESS). RISE students have initiated projects at the SOF, including apiculture for pollination and honey production and swine husbandry integrated with crop production. These projects are now self-sustaining and continue to provide experiential learning for RISE/ESS students. RISE students can participate as paid undergraduate crew members or volunteers at the Student Organic Farm and become contributing members of several of the ongoing projects.
