NSC 192 - Environmental Studies First-Year Seminar
NSC 192 is the introductory RISE seminar. All incoming first-year RISE students are enrolled in NSC 192 automatically and take the course during the fall of their first year at MSU. Students will study environmental issues within an integrated and multidisciplinary approach such that they may gain an appreciation for both the interconnectedness and also the complexity of our environment. Other topics include understanding campus resources, grant writing, community engagement projects, and strengths and career development. In the Fall 2014 semester, we offered one section of the seminar from 2:40-4:00 on Tuesday for one credit.
This course is designed for first-year RISE students. Upperclass students adding the Environmental Studies Specialization may wish to substitute this seminar with a Study Abroad experience. All substitutions must be approved by the RISE Director, Dr. Laurie Thorp.
